Hi everyone,
I have been working on ID-based cryptography and i have noticed that pairing (either Weil or Tate pairing) is an important issue in this kind of cryptography.
My question is why pairing is important in ID-based crypto?
I thought it is used to define signature and encryption algorithms that permit to check either it is the PKG (Private Key Generator) the station which generated the private key or not. (i want just to remind you that in ID-based crypto any station ID is used as its public key and its corresponding private key is generated by a special entity called PKG).
Actually, i don't find a convincing cause for the use of pairing in ID-based crypto.
Do you have an explanation?
Thank you,
