For those who haven't read it yet, a paper on biometrical fingerprint recognition by Ton van der Putte & Jeroen Keuning. A lot of this info was presented on whatthehack 2005.

Too bad i couldn't be there.... Crying or Very sad

good reading , though it fails to mention cases like injury.

In fingerprint recognition the stored data file , which is containing the fingerprint image it is always simulating a thumb or the pointing finger. Not both of them.
In case of an injury , FAR-FRR are increased dramatically ,and at some cases that is causing deny access, since the fingerprint is not the same.

Fingerprint is indeed a good identification biometric measure, yet it should be combined with a password and account.

Making a fake fingerprint is indeed something mentioned , though the cases represented here, are also limmited. The easiest way is not mentioned, which is taking an imprint from a glass or some other surface , by using several ways and place it over the scanner.
Silicone and erasers are not the only way.

It is also not mentioning how to protect yourself against those attempts, by requiring additional confirmation points to verify the authenticity of the given sample.

Auto companies, indeed were thinking of such measure to apply ,yet the new measure of scanning blood veins(spelled right?) and their structure at the upper side of your hand has a very lower FAR-FRR, and it is considered to be more secure than the above measure.

Yet that is still ,not considered to be applied for 5-8 years.
