Hello,
just registred here...
I have to replace an old firewall in a small office (Juniper Netscreen 25).
10 users inside and 10-15 accessing the LAN by VPN. Remote users are located in different time zones over the globe.

The features needed:

1. Firewall
2. advanced IDP

* no need for IPSEC VPN. top notch SSL VPN appliance just installed and doing well. Ipsec vpn still in place too.
I think about Juniper SSG 5 or 20 but they are pretty old. Other brands that doing well for you...

Appreciate your suggestions.

Michael.

Hi mla,

For a small office with the amount of users you indicated, the Fortinet Fortigate works really well.

I have worked with clients that use the FortiGate-30 appliance and it satisfies their needs. The updates are regular and the support is good.

As far as your second requirement; IDP, are you enabling the Prevention component or just the Detection?

Thanks,

You are entitled to your opinion. Very Happy

Check out SonicWALL's products. They are not ideal for large organizations, but for SMB they work fine. They implement Unified Threat Management (UTM) which means that most of there products have a Firewall, IDS, and IPS system.

Good luck,

I think the Juniper can be a good solution for you.

I worked with Fortinet and I also do not recommend them.
For an excellent firewall/vpn you can use Cisco.

Regarding the IDP... what type of data is expected to be transfered ?
Who is using this firewall ? office users ?
